The Good Weekend 2021 and its impact on online sales in Mexico

The Christmas shopping season is near and, as every year, it begins with the Good End, the discount program organized by the Federal Government, which this 2021 will take place from November 10 to 16 and it is expected that at least 95 thousand will be added. Business.

Last year, El Buen Fin generated $ 238.9 billion pesos in total sales, 107% more compared to 2019, and it is expected that this year the 2020 figures will be exceeded.

For its part, e-commerce generated a total of $ 36.1 billion pesos in the 2020 edition, which represented a growth of 225% compared to the previous year. According to the Good End 2020 Results Report of the Mexican Online Sales Association (AMVO), this growth was mainly due to the context of confinement, the extension of the duration of the campaign, as well as the intensive use of digital channels.

The Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco-Servytur) estimates that in this edition, 35% of sales during the Good End will be made through virtual channels. According to Héctor Tejada, president of the Confederation, “economic reactivation also requires the digital transformation of our companies, especially SMEs.” For this reason, he informed that the commerce, service and tourism sector will be provided with the tools and training necessary to join electronic commerce and digitally transform its processes.

Concanaco’s expectation is that, by the end of the year, e-commerce will channel up to 35% of the total sales of goods and services.

Undoubtedly, it is time for companies to start preparing for this season, which represents the most important sales figures of the year, and which is increasingly adding more buyers through the different digital channels.
