How will the Good End impact imports in the country?

With Good End 2021 just around the corner, participating companies must be prepared to meet the demand of the 8 out of 10 consumers who plan to purchase products during the event, according to the Association’s Purchase Intention Report Mexican Online Sale.

In the 2020 edition, one of the most outstanding results of the Good End was the increase of 20.4% in the sale of imported products, its largest increase in the last 18 years. This growth in imports also meant a challenge for international logistics, since at that time companies were not prepared for the growing demand.

This year, one of the issues that has generated red flags in the sector is the availability of containers in supply chains. The Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur) warned at the end of September that the supply of merchandise in Mexico was presenting crucial delays linked to the movement of containers. He even pointed out that they were working with the authorities to avoid affecting the Good End. However, it has recently been confirmed that the availability of containers is already 96% compared to 2019, and represents an increase of 26% compared to 2020.

How can importing companies prepare to meet these challenges and adapt to customer consumption patterns? According to some experts, long-term planning and inventory accumulation would be the key.
